On January 22nd, the National Energy Administration released data on the electricity consumption of the whole society in 2017.
In 2017, the total electricity consumption in society was 630.77 billion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year increase of 6.6%. From an industrial perspective, the electricity consumption of the primary industry is 115.5 billion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year increase of 7.3%; The electricity consumption of the secondary industry is 4441.3 billion kilowatt hours, an increase of 5.5%; The electricity consumption of the tertiary industry is 881.4 billion kilowatt hours, an increase of 10.7%; The daily electricity consumption of urban and rural residents reached 869.5 billion kilowatt hours, an increase of 7.8%. In 2017, the country's new production capacity of power supply (officially put into operation) was 133.72 million kilowatts, including 12.87 million kilowatts of hydropower and 45.78 million kilowatts of thermal power.
